Proto M2 buyer's guide: tabletop telepresence without the hype
What the M2 is designed to do, what its workflow requires and which buyers should request a demonstration.

What the product is
Proto describes the M2 as a tabletop holographic communication and media device for live or pre-recorded content. It combines a display enclosure with ProtoOS and cloud tools rather than functioning as a generic monitor alone.
Its value proposition is presence: a remote presenter, avatar, product or prepared visual appears within a physical cabinet. The result is an optical presentation system, not a free-space scientific hologram.
What to test
A useful demo should cover live capture, latency, audio, camera placement, network requirements, content upload and day-to-day operation. Ask which subscription features remain essential after the included service period and how content can be exported or reused.
Evaluate the cabinet at the real audience distance. Tabletop scale can be a strength for reception desks, meetings and product activations, but it is not a substitute for a life-size stage device.
Who should shortlist it
Shortlist the M2 when your organization has repeated use for remote presence, guided experiences or branded spatial media and can support a managed content workflow. For a one-off event, rental or an agency-led activation may be more rational than ownership.
